Moseley in Bloom has a new Chair

Published by Jonathan Smith on

After four years of service, Amy Maclean stepped down as Chair of Moseley in Bloom at our recent AGM. As Chair, Amy steered the Committee with great energy and enthusiasm through some of the most difficult times – especially during the Covid years. The restrictions put in place meant new ways of working; we had video meetings, produced and distributed a weekly newsletter, and even had a virtual Open Gardens event.

We are pleased to say that despite taking a step back, Amy will continue to be actively involved on the committee. This AGM was a lovely  chance to celebrate Amy’s tenure. As she said:

Thanks for a great evening all–it felt like we had a great gathering of potential newbies, and certainly MiB friends. Thanks for all your reports which summarised the year so beautifully. And thanks for the lovely send off–fizz and flowers, my favourite!”

And with Amy’s closing remarks, MiB then welcomed in our new Chair – Sabreena Mahroof.  Sabreena opened her garden for the first time in 2016, and in doing so she met and made friends with MiB members.  She was encouraged to join MiB soon after, and has been engaged as a Trustee and committee member ever since. She has been actively involved in our Schools Gardening Project, works closely with volunteers, and is a key figure on our Open Gardens organising Committee.

I am very pleased to serve as the new chair for Moseley in Bloom.  It’s an organisation made up of some remarkable individuals, and I feel fortunate to be part of the team who will continue to help MIB grow and flourish.
